Make New Year’s Resolutions Stick

Illustrations by DDING

THE PROBLEM

Every January 1, you make resolutions for the new year. But then a week passes, you haven’t taken any action, and your goals seem like a distant memory!

THE HACK

Step One:

Set a clear goal.  Choose a resolution you’re excited about and can visualize yourself accomplishing this year. Then break it down into bite-sized steps.

Step Two:

Make yourself accountable.  Ask a friend or family member to check in with you once a month, or track your progress in a journal.

Step Three: Enjoy the Journey:

Don’t wait until the year’s end to feel proud. Give yourself small rewards along the way to celebrate your progress.
