You’ve gotten in the habit of showering every morning. You’re happy with how you look, feel, and smell—but you’re also worried about how your water usage is affecting the environment.
Life Hacks: Eco-Friendly Shower
THE PROBLEM
THE HACK
Showers can use up to 5 gallons of water per minute! To cut your water usage down, you can take shorter showers, or you can try taking something called a “military shower.” Here’s how to do it.
STEP 1:
Step into the shower and turn on the water for about 30 seconds—just long enough to fully wet your hair, face, body, and sponge or washcloth.
STEP 2:
Turn off the water while you lather up with shampoo and soap.
STEP 3:
Turn the shower back on to rinse off. For conditioner or additional products, repeat steps 2 and 3. You’ve just used a fraction of the water of a typical shower!
