Five Relaxing Breaths

Has anyone ever told you to take a deep breath when you’re stressed? Even better than taking one breath is taking five. Deep, controlled breaths are a great way to reset your nervous system so you feel calmer and more in control of the situation. This simple breathing exercise can be done anywhere, anytime, including the middle of class. Feeling self-conscious? Trace your fingers under your desk! Here’s how:

  1. Trace up the outside of your thumb with your opposite index finger while breathing in.
  2. Trace down the inside of your thumb while breathing out.
  3. Trace up your index finger while breathing in.
  4. Trace down your index finger while breathing out.
  5. Repeat for the rest of your fingers.
