You might have heard about human trafficking but not be sure what it is. Here’s what you need to know to keep yourself safe.

PREPARING TO READ

Before you read the article “The Truth About Trafficking,” ask your students the following pre-reading questions:

What is human trafficking, and how can you stay safe from it?

READING AND DISCUSSION

  • Have your students read the article “The Truth About Trafficking”; read the article out loud to them; or have students partner-read the article out loud.
  • After they’ve read the article, revisit the pre-reading questions. Have their answers changed?

Continue the learning journey with the following extension activity:

In TRAFFICKING PSA, have your class work together to come up with a list of questions addressed in the article, such as “What is human trafficking?” “How does trafficking happen?” or “How can you keep yourself safe from trafficking?” Aim for five or six questions. Then, have small groups pick one question each and create informational PSA-style videos based on that question to showcase their learning. If there is time, have the whole class watch the videos together.
