I'm a Prop Master

The TV show is based on the popular book series.

Yasmine Wallace is the prop master on the new Disney+ TV series Goosebumps. That means she’s responsible for providing and keeping track of all the props on the show. A prop is any movable item in a production. (Think Harry Potter’s wand and glasses.) Any prop Yasmine and her team can’t buy, they make themselves. Yasmine works with the director, costume crew, and design team to make sure that everything on set looks just right. Think you might be interested in becoming a prop master some day? Read on!

Yasmine Wallace

Growing up, I spent a lot of time drawing, painting, and building stuff. At first I thought I wanted to be an animator like Walt Disney. I even had pictures of him and Mickey Mouse on my wall. So it’s incredibly cool that I’m getting to work on a Disney show!

In college, I studied things like welding and interior design. I had a friend who was in a movie, and I volunteered to help on the set. The movie’s prop master quit, and they offered me the job.

A prop can be just about anything—even food! In Goosebumps, the characters have to eat worms in one scene. We made the worms from scratch, without using too much sugar.

There’s also a dog, Fifi. We built a fake Fifi as a stand-in. We got the collar, fur, and eyes perfect, so you can’t tell the real Fifi from the fake one!

I often work really long days. It can get stressful, but it’s worth it when I find the perfect prop to match the director’s vision for a scene.
