EXPANDING SEL OPPORTUNITIES
Continue the learning journey with the following extension activity:
In CASHING IN ON PASSIONS, have students work individually or in small groups to create and share visual presentations about other people who followed their passions to start a business. They can present about someone they researched online or even a person they know in real life. To the extent possible, make sure each presentation covers a different person so students can learn about a range of inspiring people. Encourage your class to use what they learned in the article along with the prompts in the skills sheet to guide them. Once the presentations are over, have students use the skills sheet to reflect on their learning: they should share what they love doing, how they could turn it into a part-time business, and what challenges they might face along the way.
