Lesson Plan: Stressed? Reset It!

Frazzled, stressed out, overwhelmed? Try one of these super easy (and weirdly fun!) resets to feel better fast.

PREPARING TO READ

Before you read the article “Don’t Sweat It. Reset It!” ask your students the following pre-reading question:

How does stress affect your health, and how can you feel better quickly when stressed?

READING AND DISCUSSING

  • Have your students read the article “Don’t Sweat It. Reset It!” independently; read the article out loud to them; or have students partner-read the article out loud.
  • After they’ve read the article, revisit the pre-reading questions. Have their answers changed?

BUILDING COMPREHENSION AND VOCAB

Check students’ comprehension of and engagement with the story with the following assessment tools:

  • Comprehension Quiz
  • Vocab Builder

EXPANDING SEL OPPORTUNITIES

Continue the learning journey with the following writing prompt:

In HOW I RESET, have students write a one to two-page essay responding to the article. They should start with a short introduction on stress, and then go on to describe what typically stresses them out and why. Then, have them consider what their favorite resets are and why these resets are their go-to! (If they haven’t tried any resets before, have them explain which of the resets from the article they’d like to use and why.)
