Choices Challenge: Fight for Your Food!

Want to make a difference in your school cafeteria? Now you can!

We dare you to join the healthy lunch movement.

1.  SURVEY YOUR CLASSMATES.

Print and hand out our Cafeteria Report Card (available at scholastic.com/choices) to find out what students really think of your school’s food. Keep it anonymous, so they can be honest!

2.  ANALYZE THE RESULTS.

After collecting your surveys, tally the results and identify the main problem areas. Are you lacking fresh veggies? Are the snacks packed with sugar? (Think of this as gathering evidence for your next step.)

3.  SET GOALS.

Based on the data, come up with goals to create change in your cafeteria. You can think long term (a smoothie station, perhaps?) or short term (more fresh fruit).

WIN!

After completing the challenge, share your ideas with us! Present your results in a creative way—whether that’s a video, photo essay, or flyer. Anything is fair game, as long as it (1) identifies your cafeteria’s biggest problem, and (2) communicates your goal to change it. One winner will receive a $50 gift card!

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Entries must be postmarked by 11/15/15 for eligibility. Void where prohibited. For complete rules, go to Scholastic.com/Choices.
