This Week's Teen Flaunt: Taylor Was Adopted
When Taylor was 8 years old, her parents sent her brother away for the day and sat her down in the living room. She was convinced she was in trouble. Wouldn't any kid be, under those circumstances? But instead of dishing out a lecture, Taylor's mom delivered some very unexpected news: Taylor had been adopted at 10 weeks old.
It was a revelation met with confusion, curiosity, and ultimately (as Taylor writes in her Flaunt) a very serene sense of clarity. We find her perspective mature and inspiring:
I am grateful that my birth mom had the foresight to understand that she didn’t have the resources to raise me. I am grateful to my parents for having had the courage to adopt ... I was given a second chance at life. That’s what I think is awesome, and I am determined to live that life to the fullest of my ability.
