This Week's Teen Flaunt: Hansel is a Fighter
No, he's not talking about boxing or beating up bullies. In this week's Teen Flaunt (part of our new partnership with Don't Hide It, Flaunt It), Hansel, 17, shares what it means to feel like you're living your life in constant battle—against stereotypes, against other people's judgments, and against the setbacks fate throws your way:
"I’ve moved from another country, overcome health problems, and had a near-death experience, all while attempting to maintain a sense of normalcy as a boy growing up in New Jersey. I removed my accent as quickly as I could, but no amount of willpower, practice, or medication could quite get rid of my blood pressure issues."
We like this lesson a lot for teens: No matter how hard you try to fit in, there will almost always be something that makes you different—and that you can't control.

If you would like to have your teenager or student (age 13-18) write a “Teen Flaunt” that could potentially be published on the Teen Flaunt page, please submit the proposed essay (no longer than 700 words) to: meg [at] megzucker [dot] com.
