More Than Just A Snack, These Cookies Can Make A Difference
We’ll gladly accept any excuse to eat milk and cookies. But in case you’re looking for a reason to satisfy your sweet tooth, look no further thanDoSomething.org’s latest campaign! From now until Feb. 22, teens can participate inBake Sales for Babies to help provide supplies for babies in Syria. Encourage any young people you know to grab some cookie mix and get involved.
So what exactly is Bake Sales for Babies? This campaign raises money for warm clothing, blankets, formula, and support services for babies in Syria. Since 2011, Syria has been in turmoil. The conflict has resulted in more than 170,000 deaths and approximately three million refugees. Because of the violence, children and babies desperately need supplies to survive the winter.
That’s why DoSomething.org is asking its members to set up milk and cookie stands in their schools and communities. The money will go to the United National Refugee Agency and the Karam Foundation—two organizations that assist people affected by the conflict.
In case teens need extra incentive, participants are entered to win a $3,000 scholarship! So not only will they make a difference in other people’s lives, but it can positively impact their own futures as well.
For more info about the campaign, visit dosomething.org/campaigns/bake-sales-babies! Not only are there helpful resources to host a bake sale, but there’s also a Syrian chocolate chip cookie recipe.
P.S. It’s not too late to join DoSomething’s Love Letters campaign! Teens can help brighten a senior citizen’s Valentine’s Day by designing handmade cards from now until Feb. 15.
