Monday Munchies: Guacamole
It’s Monday and we’re hungry! We gave you a list of the 10 foods teens should eat in our September issue and now we want to show you some tasty ways to prepare them. Start the week off right with a simple, healthy, and delicious recipe that focuses on teen nutrition and that even the most kitchen-newbie can create. This week, Guacamole!
Whether you’re making it to enjoy while watching the game or as an after-school snack, this tasty, healthy dip is sure to get rave reviews!
- 1 clove of garlic, peeled
- ½ small onion, chopped
- 1 very ripe avocado
- ¼ cup low-fat plain Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons salsa
- hot sauce
- Crush garlic (try using a garlic press) into a small mixing bowl. Add a few shakes of salt and mash into a paste with the back of a fork.
- Add chopped onion, avocado, yogurt, and salsa. Mash all ingredients together with a fork leaving the avocado a little bit chunky.
- Add hot sauce to taste
*Bonus: If you don’t have salsa, it’s OK to skip it. If you have a lime- a squeeze of juice before serving will kick the guac up a notch.
