A Choices Favorite is One of the Coolest Kids of 2013
In each issue of Choices, we try to introduce our readers to teens that will inspire them to follow their dreams and passions. In our February 2013 issue, we introduced you to Georgia, the hearing-impaired teen chef who’s using her passion for cooking to both remember her mother, and to help her father make more healthful decisions. Today, Georgia was featured on HuffPost Live with the “Coolest Kids of 2013”—and we couldn’t agree more with their decision to include her among the coolest.
In the interview, Georgia discusses her big dreams of becoming a Food Network star and opening her own restaurant—dreams which stem from her passion for cooking. Georgia originally began cooking as a bonding experience with her mother. After Georgia’s mother passed away when she was 10, Georgia used their beloved activity as a way to remember her. And after Georgia’s father suffered a stroke, her hobby became a passion to create healthful and delicious meals for her family.
Georgia’s story is one of our favorites, because despite the struggles she’s had, she still manages to have a happy, healthy, and positive outlook on life. “When I’m in the kitchen, I realize that there’s nothing I can’t do and nothing I can’t get through,” she says.
